Conducting fieldwork in medical wards for this course serves several objectives, allowing students to gain practical insights into patients’ illness experiences, healthcare services and medical institutions.
Additionally, this hands-on-experience allowed them to apply sociological and anthropological theories and methods beyond the classroom setting.
Congratulations
The Social Engagement program, led by expert in medical Sociology, Dr. Szariannie, has been successfully implemented at KL Hospital thanks to her efforts in integrating academic content through fieldwork.

A SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT VISIT TO PUSAT JAGAAN TITIAN OKU NUR
Dr. Aisha, a social gerontology specialist, partnered with SOCASA and Briged Bakti Malaysia (BBM) to lead a social engagement initiative at Pusat Jagaan Titian OKU Nur in Rawang, Selangor on December 16, 2023.
The goal was to educate students on the realities faced by institutionalised elders and the impact it has on their lives.
The students utilized their time by participating in a communal cleaning project, gathering data, and engaging in conversation with the community's residents and caretakers.
This situation could also be viewed as a journey towards cultivating compassionate and socially responsible young adults for the years to come.
