Kuala Lumpur, 23 September 2025<\/strong> \u2013 A delegation of academic staff from the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), paid an official visit to the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) on 23 September 2025.<\/p>

The AIKOL delegation was led by Professor Dr Ida Madieha Abdul Ghani Azmi, Dean of AIKOL, accompanied by Associate Professor Dr Wan Zulhafiz Wan Zahid, Deputy Dean (Academic and Internationalisation), Dr Zati Ilham binti Abdul Manaf, Head of Department of Civil Law, Mr Ahmad Muslim bin Rozlan, Head of Department of Legal Practice, uan Munawiza Juliana binti Mohd Jasin, and Dr Sahida binti Safuan, Academic Quality Assurance Liaison (AQAL). They were warmly received by Dato\u2019 Seri Mohd Hishamudin Md Yunus, Chairman of SUHAKAM, together with senior officials of the Commission.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The meeting centred on exploring meaningful areas of cooperation between AIKOL and SUHAKAM. Both sides discussed initiatives to strengthen human rights awareness among students through talks, seminars, and other academic engagements. They also deliberated on potential training programmes and capacity-building activities for students and academics, as well as opportunities for collaborative research in niche areas of human rights. Another key focus of the discussion was the possibility of AIKOL academics contributing to SUHAKAM\u2019s annual journal to enrich its scholarly content. In addition, the visit touched on the appointment of Dato\u2019 Seri Mohd Hishamudin as an Adjunct Professor at AIKOL in his personal capacity, which would further strengthen the academic links between the two institutions.<\/p>

Professor Dr Ida Madieha emphasised AIKOL\u2019s strong commitment to nurturing graduates who are not only competent in law but also deeply conscious of ethical and human rights values. \u201cThis engagement with SUHAKAM reflects AIKOL\u2019s mission to bridge theory and practice while instilling in students the values of justice, dignity, and respect for human rights,\u201d she said.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Dato\u2019 Seri Mohd Hishamudin welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed SUHAKAM\u2019s readiness to collaborate with universities in promoting human rights awareness. He stressed that partnerships with institutions such as AIKOL are crucial in cultivating a culture of respect for human rights among the future leaders of the nation.<\/p>
