Dean's Foreword

The Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences was one of the first two faculties established when the International Islamic University Malaysia began operations in 1983. There are currently four academic departments within the Kulliyyah – the Department of Economics, the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Accounting and the Department of Finance. At the beginning, the Kulliyyah offered only one undergraduate program in Economics. Due to increasing demand on integrated educations in economics, accounting, business and finance curriculums, the Kulliyyah expanded its undergraduate studies and introduced the Bachelor of Business Administration, the Bachelor of Accounting program, and the Bachelor of Islamic Banking and Finance program. The Kulliyyah also initiated its postgraduate programs in 1988 and currently it offers seven different postgraduate degrees. Our vision is to be a leading faculty of international excellence in teaching, research and consulting services integrating conventional economics, accounting, business and finance including Islamic banking and finance-related areas imbued with values and morality based on revealed sources of knowledge.

The Undergraduate Prospectus contains information on all Bachelor degree programs. It outlines the curriculum structure of our undergraduate programs and provides synopses of courses offered by the Kulliyyah. The list of academic staff together with their areas of specialization is also provided at the Kulliyyah website. Glancing through the program structure and course synopses, one may note the integrated curriculum that we offer. This uniqueness aptly reflects the Kulliyyah’s mission to produce well- rounded professionals in economics, accounting, business administration and finance who are not only imbued with Islamic values and ethics but also have professional competence to administer and implement Islamic principles in policy making and management.

The strength of the Kulliyyah is in its highly qualified and distinguished academic staff whose outstanding track record is not only in teaching but also in research and publications. The Kulliyyah is also provide presentation laboratories, a general computing laboratory, and a numerical and analysis laboratory. Our classrooms are equipped with multimedia systems to enhance students’ learning process. There is also a resource room serve as a mini library located in the Postgraduate Unit office, and male-female postgraduate rooms for individual or group studies. Lastly, I would like to express my appreciation to the members of my academic and administrative staff teams that have served the kulliyyah with passion. May Allah give all of us strength to make our vision and mission a reality.
