Held on 27 February 2025 at IIUM, this rawSEC x IIUM event brought together cybersecurity experts to explore the dual role of AI in modern cyberattacks and defences. Speakers from Kaspersky and IIUM shared insights on AI’s impact, challenges, and opportunities in the evolving threat landscape.
Strategic Thinking for Cyber Resilience: Empowering IIUM Leaders
Held on 26 February 2025 at IIUM Gombak, this full-day workshop aimed to enhance cyber resilience among IIUM leaders through strategic thinking, leadership insights, and cybersecurity awareness. The session featured speakers from various IIUM departments and offered CTD points and certificates of attendance to participants.

Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Zahidah Zulfkifli and Ts. Dr. Noor Hayani Abd Rahim delivered a sharing session on Cyber Resilience to 80 future school leaders aimed to provide insights into organization's success. IIUM was invited by Institut Aminudin Baki to deliver presentations on leadership and management of educational institutions, followed by a session on Empowering Schools with AI and Cyber Resilience.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony between the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) & Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR)
IIUM provides training programs for future Malaysian diplomats on cultural intelligence and soon, on cyber leadership, inshaAllah.
KICT IAS RU12 was invited to collaborate with IIUM Leadership Centre (ILC) to conduct cyber leadership training programs with IDFR.
IAS RU12 was invited by National Institute of Public Administration or mostly know as Institut Tadbiran Awam Negara (INTAN) to join INTAN Emerging Technology Symposium from 1-2 Oct 2024 to promote our upcoming Strategic Thinking for Cyber Resilience workshop intended for Malaysian government officers. Our workshop which is jointly organized by International Islamic University Malaysia and University of Melbourne will be held on 5th & 7th November 2024 at KL Hilton and it is free of charge as it is funded by the Dept of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia. Moreover, this program is endorsed by National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), Malaysia and National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN).

A meaningful meeting was held at the International Islamic University Malaysia's Office of the Rector. Prof Dr Atif Ahmad, Prof Dato Dr Norbik Bashah Idris, Dr Zurina Abdul Ghani, and I were honored to meet with the Honorable Rector, Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Osman Bakar. We took the opportunity to introduce Prof Atif to our new Rector and shared insights about our Strategic Thinking for Cyber Resilience research project in collaboration with the University of Melbourne, and sought advice about our future plans. With hope and aspiration, we look forward to exploring the path towards Ethical Thinking in Cyber Leadership, inshaAllah.
RESEARCH TRAINING PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE
22 – 25 Jan 2024: A delegation of five researchers (see names below) from the Department of Information Systems, Kulliyyah of ICT, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) had the distinct honor of participating in a research training program at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Melbourne, Australia. This program forms an integral part of the UoM-IIUM Cyber Resilience research project, generously funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia. The delegation extends its sincere gratitude to Professor Dr. Atif Ahmad and Associate Professor Dr. Sean Maynard for their invaluable knowledge sharing session, which undoubtedly contributes towards the advancement of Malaysia's cyber resilience efforts.
KICT Intellectual Talk Series 2/2024
Held on 20 May 2024, this talk featured Prof. Dr. Atif Ahmad from the University of Melbourne on Cyber Leadership in Organizations and Opportunities for Cross-Disciplinary Research. The event included remarks from IIUM leadership and insights on transformative leadership, attracting a diverse academic audience.
NACSA IRMS Workshop
26–27 Nov 2024: National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) 2-day workshop on Semakan Garis Panduan Pengurusan Risiko Sektor Awam. The event brought together professionals and experts to collaborate on strengthening national cybersecurity frameworks.
The Strategic Thinking for Cyber Resilience training program (pilot), aimed at Malaysian government leaders, was successfully conducted on May 23rd, 2024, at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our awesome participants, and to the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and the University of Melbourne teams for their contributions to its success. 36 leaders from Malaysian government agencies participated in the pilot program.
Strategic Thinking for Cyber Resilience Workshop
Held on 5 & 7 November 2024 at Hilton Kuala Lumpur, this workshop is designed for Malaysian government leaders to strengthen their understanding of cyber resilience. Co-organized by IIUM and the University of Melbourne, it features interactive sessions, strategic case studies, and expert talks from local and international speakers. Participants will receive a joint certificate from both institutions.

Cyber Safety & Security Program at the B40 Community
This outreach initiative focused on raising awareness about online safety among the B40 community. Activities included engaging games for children, a prize-giving session, interviews with parents, and a group photo session to commemorate the event.

This morning, the Information Assurance and Security Research Unit (RU) of KICT, Media and Communications Law RU of AIKOL and the Postgraduate Students Society co-organized a talk by Tom Millar, Senior Advisor, Vulnerability Management, Cybersecurity Division, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, DHS, USA entitled "How the USA defends its critical infrastructure from cyber and physical threats". It was held at the KICT Conference Room, Kulliyyah (Faculty) of ICT, IIUM Gombak.

Held on 16 June 2023 at MPH Wadi Budi, IIUM, this inspiring TEDx event featured notable speakers including Tan Sri Dato' Sri Diraja Haji Adnan Yaakob, YB Syed Saddiq,Dr. Nurul Nuha and other distinguished guests. The session aimed to spark meaningful conversations and share powerful ideas with the IIUM community.
