The design and development of Arabic language multimedia learning application for Islamic schools in Perlis.

Abjadiya is an Arabic learning courseware designed for primary students at Islamic Schools in Perlis, which is a project under the Jamalullail Responsible Research Grant Scheme (JRRGS) 2025. It addresses the challenges of learning Arabic in Islamic primary schools, where students often struggle with the complex script, pronunciation and vocabulary. The app offers interactive multimedia lessons that demonstrate how to write Arabic letters correctly, along with clear pronunciation guides for both letters and words. By organising the Arabic language content effectively and presenting it through an engaging and interactive platform, Abjadiya provides a fun and effective way for students to build a strong foundation in Arabic and improve their writing and speaking skills.

Incorporating SEJAHTERA Design Thinking Framework into Inquiry Based Learning programme in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.

This project focuses on improving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) among secondary school students in Malaysia, particularly in the context of STEM education. Many students continue to struggle with critical thinking and problem-solving due to limitations in the current curriculum. To address this challenge, the project integrates the Sejahtera Design Thinking (SDT) Framework into Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) activities. The approach emphasizes hands-on, student-centered learning through technology innovation projects. As part of the program, students will explore user needs, propose creative solutions, and develop and evaluate digital products. The goal is to assess how the SDT-enhanced IBL model can foster deeper thinking and better prepare students for real-world problem-solving.

This e-book serves as a user-friendly resource to introduce and clarify TAKAFUL terminologies for the general public. It incorporates interactive features such as clickable definitions, visual aids, quizzes, and multimedia elements to enhance engagement and understanding. The design emphasizes simplicity, accessibility, and visual appeal, ensuring a seamless learning experience for readers of varying backgrounds. Its goal is to demystify TAKAFUL concepts and foster greater awareness within the community.

This book entitled ‘Design with Faith in Mind: Human Computer Interaction based on Islamic Perspective’ examines how we can shape the design and development of digital systems based on Islamic values. Through exploration of Islamic ethics, aesthetics and user- centered design methodologies, this book presents guidelines and principles for designing user interfaces of digital technology that serves both functional needs and spiritual well- being. From privacy and security considerations to culturally sensitive interface design, the book emphasizes the importance of creating digital experiences that are meaningful, ethical, and respectful towards Muslims faith and values.

This project focuses on the development of an interactive e-book designed to help users understand key Takaful terminologies in an engaging and accessible way. The e-book will incorporate multimedia elements such as visuals, animations, and interactive activities to enhance learning and retention. Targeted at students, professionals, and the general public, the project aims to simplify complex concepts in Islamic insurance while promoting financial literacy through user-friendly digital design.

Java Odyssey: Sharing, Training, and Beyond Programme

‘Java Odyssey: Sharing, Training, and Beyond’ is a program organised by Pervasive Computing and Brain Development Group (PCBDG), along with the Perceptive and Sentiment Computing (PSC) Research Unit, aimed to foster international collaborations and exchange expertise with fellow scholars from President University, Darunnajah University, Nusa Putra University (NPU), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Amikom University.

November 2023

In November 2023, Dr. -Ing. Dhidik Prastiyanto, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, and M. Rusiyanto visited KICT. They toured the Nerocoach Digital Lab and gave lectures to the students at KICT. The session concluded with a discussion with the KICT staff regarding future collaborations with KICT and potential initiatives.

Perceptive & Sentiment Computing (PSC) Meeting

January 2024

PSC conducted a meeting in January 2024 to discuss the activities planned for the year ahead. The session aimed to outline key goals, initiatives, and projects for 2024, ensuring that all involved parties were aligned with the university’s objectives. Despite the brief nature of the meeting, it provided clarity and direction for the upcoming initiatives.
