Location:<\/strong>\u00a0 Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM<\/span><\/p>

The Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre @IIUM (SASMEC @IIUM), in collaboration with the Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM, has successfully conducted the Preceptorship Training for Nurses 2025<\/strong>, a two-day intensive programme aimed at empowering experienced nurses with enhanced mentorship, teaching, and leadership skills in clinical settings.<\/span><\/p>

The event was technically supported by the Clinical Skills Centre (CSC) and gathered 26 experienced, skilled, and competent staff nurses from various wards, units, and clinics across SASMEC @IIUM. The training was meticulously designed to strengthen their roles as preceptors \u2014 professional mentors guiding junior nurses and nursing students in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Day 1: Knowledge Empowerment and Collaborative Discussion<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The programme began with an opening ceremony officiated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamil Che Hasan, Dean of the Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM. <\/span>In his address, Dr. Muhammad Kamil emphasised the vital role of preceptors in bridging the gap between theory and practice, ensuring that nursing students are equipped not only with clinical competence but also with empathy, integrity, and professionalism in line with IIUM\u2019s Tawhidic<\/em> vision.<\/span><\/p>

The first day featured a series of enriching lectures delivered by esteemed nursing scholars from the Kulliyyah of Nursing, including Dr. Siti Hazariah Abdul Hamid, Dr. Norfadzilah Ahmad, and Dr. Hasanah Pairoh. The morning sessions focused on topics such as the role of nursing preceptor in modern clinical practice, preceptorship framework and best practices, and Islamic Perspective on Teaching and Mentorship Nursing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In the afternoon, participants were divided into four groups of team bulding to discuss real-world challenges and recurring issues faced in clinical environments. The discussions were dynamic and solution-focused, encouraging participants to explore innovative strategies in preceptorship. The groups were later tasked with preparing role-play presentations to be showcased on the second day, allowing them to creatively demonstrate problem-solving and teamwork in action.<\/span><\/p>

The discussion sessions were guided by a team of facilitators led by Dr. Hanida Hani Mohd Mokhtar, alongside other experienced academic staff from the Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Day 2: Interactive Learning and Role Play Excellence<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The second day commenced with a series of interactive lectures delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Noorkhairina Sowtali, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aniawanis Makhtar, and Dr. Ashikin Atan. Their sessions emphasised interesting topics such as, assessing student’s competence in clinical area, art on giving feedback with emotional intelligence, and, spiritual and ethical leadership in preceptorship.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Following the lectures, participants returned to the stage to perform their role-play presentations, showcasing realistic clinical mentorship scenarios that reflected their learning outcomes. Each group impressed the facilitators with their creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking in handling workplace challenges.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Closing Ceremony: Recognising Excellence and Commitment<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The programme concluded with a closing ceremony, officiated by Mdm. Asmawati Che Ismail, Head of the Department of Human Resource, SASMEC @IIUM. In her remarks, she congratulated all participants for their active engagement and expressed appreciation to the Kulliyyah of Nursing for their invaluable collaboration and expertise.<\/span><\/p>

The event concluded with the presentation of tokens of appreciation and certificates, celebrating the success and commitment of all involved.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cThis Preceptorship Training marks another milestone in our continuous effort to build a culture of mentorship and clinical excellence at SASMEC @IIUM.
