Cybersecurity Governance, Risk and Compliance Research Unit (CGRC-RU)

Founded in 2017 under the CyberSecurity Centre of Excellence,
CGRC-RU brings together experts from IT and law to tackle today’s cybersecurity challenges. With 14 members from Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT) and Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), we focus on advancing knowledge and solutions in information assurance and digital security. 

Our Objectives

  • To ethically evaluate, develop and promote cybersecurity standards, laws and best practices aimed at mitigating prevalent and emerging cyber threats (including those enabled or generated by AI), contributing to a secure and trustworthy digital ecosystem.
  • To design, implement, and assess comprehensive and systematic cybersecurity risk management frameworks and processes to enhance the resilience of organizations and society against cyber risks.
  • To advance the holistic understanding and responsible adoption of cybersecurity governance, risk, and compliance principles by fostering multidisciplinary research collaborations, disseminating research findings, and engaging in knowledge exchange with industry stakeholders.
