Advancing Healthcare Insights: The Success of the International Conference on Real World Evidence (RWE) 2026

The Kulliyyah of Pharmacy, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), successfully hosted the International Conference on Real World Evidence (RWE) 2026 from 12 to 14 August 2026 at the Swiss-Belhotel in Kuantan, Pahang. Guided by the theme, “The Future of Real-World Evidence: Building Trustworthy Evidence and Action in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” the conference provided an essential forum for translating real-world data into actionable healthcare solutions. The event welcomed 140 global delegates, representing nations including Malaysia, Indonesia, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, United Kingdom, Sweden, Netherlands, Lithuania, Brazil and United States. The conference was formally officiated by YBhg. Datuk Dr. Nor Fariza binti Ngah, Deputy Director-General of Health (Research and Technical Support), Ministry of Health Malaysia. Her address underscored the vital role of real-world evidence in informing national health policies, strengthening regulatory frameworks, and ensuring patient-centered care in an increasingly data-driven landscape. RWE 2026 commenced on 12 August with the foundations of data management workshop incorporating high-level training on real-world data management, pharmacoepidemiology, and causal inference. The main conference 13–14 August 2026 offered a robust programme featuring renowned international global giants in the field of Pharmacoepidemiology, Biostatistics and Artificial Intelligence hailing from institutions like Utrecht University, Uppsala University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Strathclyde, Duke Kunshan University, Federal University of Minas Gerais, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence alongside leading local experts spanning academia, RWE research, the Malaysian Health Technology Assessment Section (MaHTAS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and Pharmaceutical Services Division. Discussions centered on the intersection of advanced analytics and practical clinical applications addressing:

Experts addressed the challenges and advancements in building and validating extensive healthcare databases, ensuring data integrity for robust real-world evidence generation.
  • AI in Healthcare:
Sessions explored how Artificial Intelligence and machine learning are revolutionizing precision medicine and post-market safety surveillance.
  • Policy and Regulation:
Presentations highlighted frameworks for integrating real-world data into Health Technology Assessments (HTA) and regulatory decision-making, emphasizing strategies to optimize healthcare resource allocation. RWE 2026 successfully fostered a collaborative international community committed to advancing evidence-based healthcare.
