Prof. Dr. Mohamad Haniki Honoured for Outstanding Contributions to Tobacco Control
Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Mohamad Haniki Bin Nik Mohamed on receiving the Tobacco Control Icon Award 2025 at the National Tobacco Control Conference (NTCC) 2025. A true leader in tobacco control efforts in Malaysia, his dedication to public health through research, policy advising, and advocacy continues to inspire many.



University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy Experiential Learning Program

Preceptor for Ms. Ashlee M. Wood, final year PharmD program. She completed a 1-month elective at SASMEC, Kuantan, focusing on critical care pharmacy (ICU), but was also exposed to other clinical pharmacy services. She joined few of KOP Year 4 case discussion sessions and did a CME presentation on 17/4/2025. She also had a meeting with the Dean and Deputy Deans of KOP, joined KOP Iftar and a cultural dinner show at Kelab Serindit Mati Tersepit, Kg Permatang Badak, 25150 Kuantan.


Public Health Event : Community Engagement Programme Kulliyyah of Pharmacy and Kampung Alor Batu, Jabor, Kuantan Pahang.
On the 8 th of January 2023, a total of 47 fourth-year students of the Kulliyyah of Pharmacy
have successfully organized a Community Engagement Programme for Public Health
Pharmacy course assessment at Kampung Alor Batu, Jabor. The event included health
screening activities which were cholesterol, glucose, carbon monoxide, blood pressure and
body mass index assessment among 35 villagers in collaboration with JKKK Kampung Alor
Batu Jabor. Health exhibition addressing topics of using devices and medication, smoking,
influenza, and other health issues were also included. Findings from the programme were
presented in a seminar by the students highlighting data obtained from the programme, its
interpretation, and recommended strategies to address the health issues. Among the issues
identified were uncontrolled blood sugar, cholesterol, use of supplements, lack of health
literacy and cigarette smoking. The students were accompanied by Dr. Tengku Karmila
Tengku Kamil, Dr. Nor Hidayah Mohd Taufek and Dr. Norny Syafinaz Ab Rahman. Students
had the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills addressing health issues of the local
community, observe the consultation with pharmacy lecturers and realise their potential and
responsibility to contribute to the community. The programme was beneficial for the villagers
since they have not received any health screening since before the COVID-1 pandemic and
they had a great opportunity to discuss about their health concerns.

















Workshop on Immunization and Interprofessional Learning
Notification of the successful conduct of Workshop on Immunisation and Interprofessional Learning from 11th – 12th October and 14th October 2022 organised by Pharmacy Practice Department, Kulliyyah of Pharmacy (KOP) with the invited guest speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wesley Nuffer from University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy, USA. The participants of the workshop include lecturers, students from KOP as well as from Kulliyyah of Medicine (KOM) and Kulliyyah of Nursing (KON), IIUM Kuantan Campus and external (non-IIUM) participants. The hands-on immunisation training was conducted with collaboration with KON and attended by all Year 4 students and round table discussion on inter-professional learning was held among the representative from KOM, KON and KOP lecturers. Credits to all the organizing committee members from various departments in making the event a success.
