SDG 2 @ KOP
1. “Rizqi Coupon” Initiative – A Pay-It-Forward Effort to Support Our Students
The “Rizqi Coupon” Initiative is a pay-it-forward programme at the Kulliyyah of Pharmacy aimed at supporting IIUM students who may be facing financial difficulties in purchasing food. The collection of donations between November 2023 – June 2025 was RM 3439.00, with approximately 689 packs of meals distributed to the students in need.

The IIUM Community was informed regarding the initiative via email postings / the KOP website, and social media dissemination. Those who would like to donate will approach the KOP Cafeteria vendor to transfer the donation physically or via online transfer. Coupons will be made available to the students upon receiving each donation. The amount will be closely monitored and reported from time to time by the Office of the Deputy Dean of Student Development and Community Engagement.

2. Healthy and varied choices of food for the students
The Kulliyyah of Pharmacy is committed in ensuring a quality and variety of food is offered to the students. Campus life plays a crucial role in shaping students’ eating habits. Offering healthy, varied food options can greatly support their well-being and academic performance. A healthy and varied diet for the students at our cafeteria includes:
- Fresh Fruits and Vegetables:
Daily access to seasonal fruits, leafy greens, and other vegetables encourages students to make balanced meal choices.
- Plant-Based Carbohydrate Options:
Offering noodles and white rice, especially in the morning and afternoon, helps students maintain their energy levels throughout the day.
- Proteins:
Choices of chicken, fish, tofu, eggs, meat and beans provide essential nutrients without excessive saturated fat. Rotating protein sources keeps meals interesting and supports muscle health and concentration. - Healthy Snacks and Beverages:
Replacing sugary drinks and processed snacks with infused water and fresh juices is much refreshing and healthy for the staff and students.
- Sustainable and Local Ingredients:
Many universities are now partnering with local farms to provide fresh, organic produce. Sustainable practices like reducing food waste and offering reusable containers support both student health and environmental goals.
By offering this variety of healthy, balanced foods, we hope that this little initiative can help students develop lifelong healthy eating habits. It also creates a more welcoming, inclusive campus environment where everyone can find something nutritious and enjoyable to eat.
