Welcome to the Department of English Language, Kulliyyah of Languages and Management, IIUM.

We offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that equip students with knowledge and skills in the areas of applied linguistics, language skills and communication and English for specific purposes. The courses we offer integrate learning that combines all aspects of language skills and contents through transformative teaching and learning to improve students’ English competency and communication skills, personal and interpersonal development, and social responsibility, all of which are critical for meeting the current market demand.

Our students are also encouraged to broaden their knowledge by studying a foreign language of their choice (i.e. as Elective or Minor) in order to equip them with additional skills that potential employers require.

We know that after graduation, our alumni go on to have successful careers in a diverse range of fields, including education, journalism, publishing, public relations, international relations and diplomacy, translation, broadcasting and tourism. All of these professions require them to apply the skills, experience, and knowledge they gained while studying with us.
