38 delegates from Persatuan Mahasiswa Bahasa Arab Se-Indonesia (ITHLA) visit KOED, IIUM

GOMBAK, 16 October 2026 – The Kulliyyah of Education (KOED), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), welcomed 38 delegates from ITHLA Indonesia (Persatuan Mahasiswa Bahasa Arab Se-Indonesia) for an educational visit organised by the Association of Young Arabic Teachers (AYAT) 2025/2026. The visit, held at KOED, aimed to foster academic engagement, encourage cultural exchange and strengthen collaboration in Arabic language education between Malaysian and Indonesian students.

The educational visit provided a valuable platform for students from both institutions to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange perspectives and share experiences related to Arabic language teaching and learning. Through this engagement, the programme highlighted the importance of international academic networking in broadening students’ understanding of educational practices and promoting cooperation across borders.

The delegation was led by Br. Faqih Hizbullah, Secretary-General of DPP ITHLA Indonesia for the 2025–2027 term. The programme was also attended by Dr. Nurazzelena Binti Abdullah, Head of the Department of Language and Literacy, and Dr. Yaakob Bin Hasan, Advisor of AYAT 2025/2026, reflecting the importance of institutional support in facilitating academic engagement and student-led initiatives.

The programme commenced with a welcoming and introductory session, followed by a sharing session between IIUM and ITHLA students. The session enabled participants to exchange ideas, discuss experiences and gain insights into the teaching and learning of Arabic in Malaysia and Indonesia. Such interactions served as an opportunity to appreciate different educational contexts while identifying common interests in advancing Arabic language education.

In addition to the academic exchange, the delegates participated in a guided tour around KOED, providing them with an introduction to the Kulliyyah’s academic environment and educational setting. The visit concluded with a photography session to commemorate the engagement and the connections established between the participating students.

The educational visit reflects AYAT’s commitment to creating opportunities for academic interaction, professional growth and international collaboration in Arabic language education. By facilitating direct engagement between students from IIUM and ITHLA Indonesia, the programme contributed to a deeper understanding of educational practices in both countries while encouraging the exchange of knowledge and ideas.

The visit also underscored the potential for continued collaboration between IIUM and ITHLA Indonesia through future academic initiatives and student engagement programmes. Such partnerships are important in strengthening cross-cultural understanding, expanding academic networks and supporting the development of future Arabic language educators.

For KOED, the engagement represents a meaningful step towards fostering international academic relationships and promoting dialogue on Arabic language education within the broader regional educational community. Through initiatives such as this, AYAT continues to support opportunities for students to learn from one another, build lasting connections and contribute to the advancement of Arabic language teaching and learning.
