GOMBAK, 4 August 2026 – The Kulliyyah of Education (KOED), IIUM, recently hosted Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nizamuddin Sadiq from the Department of English Language Education, Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), Yogyakarta. He was received by Asst. Prof. Dr. Haziqah Zulaikha Aris, who shared a prior academic fellowship with him during their Ph.D. studies at the University of Southampton, England. The visit aimed to finalize a joint paper publication and establish broader academic partnerships between the two institutions.
During the visit, both academics outlined key areas for future collaboration, focusing heavily on joint research and grant applications within the fields of Global Englishes and English Language Teaching (ELT). Their discussions also paved the way for cross-institutional staff exchanges, guest lecture opportunities, and student mobility initiatives connecting IIUM’s ELTSA and UII’s EDSA student associations.
As an immediate outcome of the meeting, the two departments agreed to host a joint Online International Seminar in October 2026. This will be followed by staff and student mobility programs next year, including an official IIUM delegation visit to UII in Yogyakarta. The productive visit concluded with a courtesy photo session alongside Dr. Suhailah Hussien, the Dean of KOED.
