Ph.D. Programme
The Kulliyyah of Education (KOED), IIUM offers a unique PhD programme, which examines knowledge from an integrated Islamic perspective. It offers an array of courses taught by experienced academic staff trained in the Muslim World and the West. The University offers an Islamic and international environment conducive for research and learning.

Programme objective
To produce professionals in education who understand the principles and theories of Islamic education and who are able to translate them through research, instruction and practice, thereby contributing to the improvement and advancement of education.

Mode of programme & Language
The PhD in Education is offered via Research mode only. The classes are conducted in two mediums; English and Arabic while thesis can be written in English or Arabic as well.

Admission criteria
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from IIUM or any other accredited institution of higher learning; or
- Any other certificate that is recognized as equivalent to a bachelor’s and Master’s degree or other relevant professional qualifications and experiences that are recognized by the Senate of the University.
- Minimum required score in language proficiency test (IELTS/TOEFL/IIUM English Placement Test/Malaysian University English Test)
- A suitable research proposal is required for PhD applicants.
