OSHA 1994 Compliance Seminar 2025

The OSHA (Amendment) 1994 Compliance Seminar 2025 was successfully held on Tuesday, 22 July 2025, at the Main Auditorium, Kulliyyah of Science (KOS), IIUM Kuantan. Organised in conjunction with OSH Week 2025, the seminar was a collaborative effort between the Kulliyyah of Science, the Department of Occupational Safety, Health and Built Environment (OSHBE), and the Pahang Environmental Safety and Health Association (PESHA). It aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (Amendment) 1994, particularly among educators and administrators from higher education institutions.

With the theme “OSHA (Amendment) 1994 Compliance: What Educators and Administrators Need to Know,” the seminar featured three highly informative sessions delivered by distinguished speakers from key national agencies in occupational safety and health.

1️⃣ En. Ahmad Fakhri bin Mohammad Yusoff – Pahang Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH)

2️⃣ En. Abdul Mutalib bin Mohamed Ali – Pahang Environmental Safety and Health Association (PESHA)

3️⃣ Pn. Norazlifah binti Aziz – Social Security Protection (PERKESO)

The first speaker, En. Ahmad Fakhri bin Mohammad Yusoff from the Pahang Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), provided an in-depth overview of the amended act and its implications for institutions. This was followed by En. Abdul Mutalib bin Mohamed Ali, representing PESHA, who shared practical strategies for fostering a proactive OSH culture. The final session was presented by Pn. Norazlifah binti Aziz from PERKESO, who discussed the roles of PERKESO in supporting workplace safety and employee welfare.

The event was attended by nearly 100 participants from various institutions including IIUM, CFS Gambang, SASMEC, UMPSA, polytechnic institutions such as POLISAS, and several government agencies.

The seminar received positive feedback and reinforced the importance of continuous OSH education to ensure a safe and compliant working environment, especially within the education sector.
