Shah Alam, 4th March 2024. In a remarkable display of legal articulation, the International Islamic University Malaysia’s (IIUM) mooting team clinched the first runner-up position in the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (National Round) held in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The competition witnessed fierce competition from prominent law schools across the nation, culminating in a thrilling final round encounter between IIUM and UKM.
Notably, the team garnered recognition when one of the team members, Fatin Umairah was adjudged to be the overall second Best Oralist throughout the preliminary rounds and the team secured the second place for the Best Memorial Award. This is a testament to their meticulous legal research and comprehensive understanding of the case.
Furthermore, the IIUM mooting team’s exceptional achievement has earned them the prestigious opportunity to represent Malaysia internationally. They have qualified for the upcoming international round, scheduled to take place in Washington DC this April. Their participation in this esteemed event reflects their individual capabilities and showcases Malaysia’s flourishing legal talent in the field of public international law.
