THE CONSTITUTIONS OF MALAYSIA AND INDONESIA OFFER PROMISING AREAS FOR COMPARATIVE STUDY

Purwokerto, Indonesia, 1 March 2024. Substantial similarities in the civil, social, cultural and economic development of Malaysia and Indonesia offers vast opportunity for researchers to embark upon comparative study between the constitution of Malaysia and Indonesia.

Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib delivers a guest lecture at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED) on the comparison between the constitution of the two countries. He juxtaposes the features of both constitutions and provides the background of the features for the audience to appreciate the different constitutional trajectories between the two neighbours.

The audience questions the distinct position of a constitutional preamble, fundamental liberties, monarchy, central and state relations, Islam and the court systems. Sis Ulil Afwa SH MH adeptly moderates the session.
