Pagoh – The student representatives or Mahallah Representative Committee (MRC) of the Mahallah Zaid Harithah residential college in Pagoh successfully carried out an environmental sustainability program with activities such as waste cleaning and recycling. The MRC, under the Corporate and Social Responsibility Bureau, took the lead in organizing this program through collaboration with student representatives from UTHM Pagoh, Mahallah Aminah UIAM Gombak, and Prince of Songkhla University, Thailand. In addition, the program was sponsored by IACS International, a company highly committed to current issues such as the environment.
The waste cleaning activity took place around the residential college area, where there has been uncontrolled waste disposal by the local community. As such, activities like this help beautify the surrounding pathways while raising awareness about environmental conservation among all parties. In addition, a recycling activity was also conducted through a competition to collect the heaviest recyclable items. Through this activity, approximately 163.52 kg of recyclable materials, such as plastic bottles, boxes, and glass items, were successfully collected.
Therefore, programs like this should be continued by all parties, as it has demonstrated the participants’ dedication to giving back to the community through beneficial actions learned at the university.
