Gombak, 10th November 2025 – The Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), formally launched its Student Exchange Programme with the Faculty of Law, Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand, hosting distinguished staff and students for eight days of intensive academic and cultural exchange.
The welcoming ceremony, held at the AIKOL Meeting Room, emphasized the importance of fostering academic friendship and collaboration between the two ASEAN institutions.
In her welcoming address, Prof. Dr. Ida Madieha Binti Abdul Ghani Azmi, Dean of AIKOL, highlighted the Kulliyyah’s distinguished legacy in integrating Shariah and Civil Law and stressed the shared commitment to nurturing globally minded students who are “not only intellectually competent but also ethically grounded.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Majdah Bt. Hj Zawawi, Deputy Dean of Academic and Internationalisation, further elaborated on the programme’s design, stating it was crafted “not only to expose students to the Malaysian legal and cultural landscape, but also to cultivate understanding, mutual respect, and global-mindedness.”
The delegation immediately immersed themselves in AIKOL’s environment, undertaking a Campus Tour and visiting the M. Kamal Hassan Library (Law Section). A pivotal part of the opening day included the Observation of a Constitutional Law Class (Section 3), offering CMU students a direct view into the workings of the Malaysian legal curriculum. The successful launch sets a firm foundation for a lasting partnership rooted in shared learning and excellence.
