Our visit to Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Pahang (JKNP) was an enlightening experience that provided valuable insights into public health promotion. There were two objectives for the visitation for learning purposes, which were to expose the role of JKNP, especially the Health Promotion Unit, in improving the quality of life of individuals, families, and the community, and to acquire knowledge related to health education for the community. This visitation leading by Dr. Siti Noorkhairina binti Sowtali which is the lecturer for NURA 4412 Continuous Nursing Education, with 11 students from Kulliyyah of Nursing which are Mohd Iqbal Bin Roslan, Tengku Nur Aiayah Ihsan Binti Tg Yunus, Nur Athirah Binti Ibrahim, Che Siti Nur Ajeerah Bt Che Awang, Nurul Syazwani Bt Zaharudin, El Liyana Binti Mt Ngainon, Damia Binti Alias, Nurin Afrina Binti Guntoro, Ainun Hafizhah Binti Zulkarnain, Mohamad Asyraf Bin Mohd Zin, and Ameer Aiman Bin Muhammad Abir were welcomed by the director of JKNP and their staff.
As we entered the premises, the commitment displayed by the staff reflected their passion for promoting well-being and safeguarding the health of the community. During the interaction with the staff, the group gained a comprehensive understanding of the various programs and services offered by JKNP, ranging from disease prevention to health promotion. The staff also showcased their previous activities, such as a jump rope event organized by schoolers. Additionally, the group had the opportunity to visit the studio and participate in a live session. At the end of the visit, we had a chance to play some games and get a small gift from them.
The visit not only allowed Dr. Siti Noorkhairina binti Sowtali and our group to witness firsthand the impressive infrastructure and facilities at JKNP but also highlighted the collaborative efforts to address the population’s health needs. Overall, their time at JKNP underscored the importance of public health institutions in fostering a healthier society and left them with a profound appreciation for the tireless work done by healthcare professionals in Pahang.
