The Department of Basic Medical Sciences for Nursing
is dedicated to providing undergraduate and postgraduate nursing
students with a strong foundation in the
basic human and biomedical sciences that underpin
safe, effective and evidence-based nursing practice.
Through multidisciplinary teaching and learning, the Department supports students in understanding the scientific principles of the human body, disease processes, microorganisms, immunity, medicines and other essential biomedical concepts relevant to professional nursing care.

📚 Teaching & Learning
The Department provides fundamental scientific knowledge to
undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students,
supporting the integration of biomedical sciences with nursing
assessment, clinical decision-making and patient care.
🎓 Postgraduate & Multidisciplinary Research
The Department is also actively involved in
postgraduate research across related basic medical
science disciplines and participates in
multidisciplinary programmes in biobehavioural research.
These research activities contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and strengthen the integration of biomedical, behavioural and nursing sciences.
