The Fire Prevention Seminar 2024, proved to be a significant event aimed at enhancing fire safety awareness and preventive measures among the participants. Organised by Pertubuhan Pencegah Kebakaran in collaboration with Jabatan Bomba Dan Penyelamat Malaysia, this seminar hosted y the Kulliyyah of Nursing Safety and Health Committee (KONSHEC). The seminar saw active participation from administrative staff and lecturers of the Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM.
Mr. Darren Yee, a renowned expert in fire safety, led the seminar. His extensive knowledge and engaging presentation style greatly contributed to the success of the event. Unlike traditional fire safety talk that often emphasize response tactics during a fire, this event primarily focused on preventive measures. Mr. Yee highlighted the importance of personal fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and fire blankets, both at home and in vehicles. He also demonstrated the proper use and maintenance of these tools.
Another key topic was electrical safety, where Mr. Yee stressed proper cable management to prevent electrical circuit issues that could lead to fires. He provided practical tips on identifying and mitigating potential electrical hazards at home. Participants learned various strategies to minimize fire risks, including regular inspection of electrical appliances and adherence to safety protocols. The significance of smoke detectors and regular fire drills in residential and workplace settings was also emphasized.
The seminar had a profound impact on the participants, who gained valuable insights into fire safety. They expressed increased awareness and preparedness to implement fire prevention measures both at home and in their kulliyyah’s environments.
