Location: Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia.

The Capture the Fracture Program was successfully conducted by students from Usrah in Action, Section 821, under the guidance of their advisors, Dr. Nik Noor Kaussar, Dr. Khairul Zul Hasymi, and Dr. Muhammad Kamil. The program was held in conjunction with World Osteoporosis Day 2024, aimed at raising awareness about bone health among the elderly.

A total of 33 participants from PAWE Kuantan attended the program, which focused on preventing osteoporosis and fragile bone fractures. Through educational talks and interactive sessions, participants gained knowledge on the risks of fragile bones, the importance of early detection, and practical lifestyle changes to improve bone health.

With the theme “Say No to Fragile Bones,” the program inspired participants to take proactive steps in maintaining bone health, emphasizing the importance of strong bones for overall well-being.

This fracture prevention program for the elderly was organized in collaboration with the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, Kulliyyah of Nursing (IIUM), Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas (PAWE) Kuantan, Fragility Fracture Network Malaysia (FFNM), Malaysian Osteoporosis Society (MOS), IIUM Nursing Care Services (INCS), PhysioHero Kuantan, Physiogo, and Koyem Enterprise. The program had a significant impact, providing new knowledge to the elderly participants involved.

We’re thrilled to share that this event was recognized internationally and is featured on the World Osteoporosis Day website!
