Location: Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM Kuantan.

The Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM recently concluded a successful inbound postgraduate student mobility program in collaboration with University Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). Held from 23rd September to 18th October 2024, the program saw active participation from UMY students, who immersed themselves in various academic and community activities that enriched their understanding of nursing practices and strengthened their engagement with the IIUM and Kuantan communities.

During their time here, the students attended public lectures hosted by KON, where they gained insights into a variety of nursing and healthcare topics while interacting with kulliyyah members, speakers from UMY itself and peers. Additionally, they engaged in case study discussions and presentations, to analyze and present different nursing scenarios. This exchange fostered a collaborative learning environment, allowing participants to share cross-cultural perspectives on clinical practices.

The program also included visits to the Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre @ IIUM, where the students observed healthcare practices within the Malaysian context. A visit to Rumah Ehsan, a facility for elderly care, provided them with valuable insights into community healthcare and elder care services in Malaysia. In conjunction with World Mental Health Day, the UMY students joined IIUM in celebrating the occasion, taking part in events aimed at raising mental health awareness and emphasizing its importance in the nursing profession.

Throughout their stay, the UMY students actively engaged with the IIUM and Kuantan communities, fostering meaningful cultural exchanges and forming connections with IIUM students, kulliyyah, and the wider local community. Their presence exemplified the spirit of collaboration and mutual understanding between the two institutions.

The Kulliyyah of Nursing extends its heartfelt appreciation to the UMY students for their enthusiasm, dedication, and active participation. KON hopes that their journey here was both enriching and memorable, equipping them with experiences and knowledge that will support their future careers in nursing. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors and look forward to further collaborations with University Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. This program stands as a testament to the successful partnership between IIUM and UMY, building bridges through education, research, and cultural exchange.
