Screen, Evaluate, Connect: PR Video Showcase and Luncheon Promotes Practical Learning

PAGOH, 5 June 2026 – ENCO 3102 Public Relations (Section 1), in collaboration with ENCO 4104 Corporate Communication (Section 1), successfully organized “Screen, Evaluate, Connect: PR Video Showcase and Luncheon” at Studio 3, IIUM Pagoh. The programme provided students with an opportunity to showcase their public relations and corporate communication video projects while receiving constructive feedback from evaluators and peers. Through the evaluation session, participants enhanced their creativity, communication skills, and understanding of professional standards in the communication industry. The event also encouraged collaboration and experiential learning by bringing together students, lecturers, and evaluators in an interactive environment. Following the video showcase, participants attended a luncheon session that fostered networking and knowledge-sharing among attendees. Attended by 150 participants, the programme successfully achieved its objective of strengthening students’ practical public relations competencies while promoting teamwork, professionalism, and continuous learning. The initiative reflects IIUM’s commitment to producing skilled and industry-ready communication graduates. In addition, the organising committee donated RM1,100 to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Islam Muar, Johor (PKAYIM) from the surplus funds generated through the event. The contribution was officially handed over on 12 June 2026 as part of the programme’s social responsibility initiative, reflecting the students’ commitment to giving back to the community and supporting the welfare of orphans.

Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality Assurance and Recognition (MFAR) for the Masses: Students Bridging Awareness in Muslim-Friendly Tourism

PAGOH, 2 May 2026 – As the global tourism industry continues to evolve, the demand for more inclusive and culturally sensitive travel experiences continues to grow. Being Muslims ourselves, we understand the importance of travelling comfortably while staying true to our values and way of life. Recognising this, students of Kulliyyah of Sustainable Tourism and Contemporary Languages (KSTCL), IIUM Pagoh, organised MFAR for the Masses, a programme aimed at introducing and simplifying the concept of Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality Assurance and Recognition (MFAR) to the wider community. The programme was driven by the need to address a clear gap in public understanding. While many are familiar with halal certification, often associated with bodies such as Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia, the broader concept of Muslim-friendly tourism remains less understood. MFAR, introduced by the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, goes beyond compliance. It focuses on comfort, accessibility, and overall experience for Muslim travellers, something that feels relevant, yet often overlooked. The programme featured Ms Nurshahidah binti Mohd Abas, an executive from the Industry Development Division of Islamic Tourism Centre. She provided valuable industry insight into the practical implementation of MFAR. Her sharing helped IIUM Pagoh’s students understand how MFAR is applied in real hospitality settings, turning what could have remained a theoretical concept into something grounded in real-world practice. People initially associated Muslim-friendly tourism only with halal food. However, the discussion revealed a much broader scope, including prayer facilities, Qibla direction, appropriate amenities, and Muslim-sensitive service practices.In essence, MFAR is more than a framework, it is a mindset of inclusivity and assurance. MFAR for the Masses achieved more than just knowledge sharing. It encouraged conversation, challenged assumptions, and helped participants see Muslim-friendly tourism in a broader light. The positive engagement throughout the programme reaffirmed that awareness is the first step towards meaningful change in the future. Awareness begins with understanding, and change begins with awareness.

IIUM PAGOH TEAM RECEIVES RM3,000 FUNDING UNDER IMPACT DIGITAL WITH COMMUNITY TOURISM 2.0 (IDCT 2025) The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) is pleased to announce that a team from IIUM Pagoh Campus has successfully secured RM3,000.00 in funding under the Impact Digital with Community Tourism 2.0 (IDCT 2025) Program. This achievement reflects the team’s strong commitment, professionalism, and dedication in delivering impactful digital initiatives that contribute to the development of community-based tourism.
