IIUM PARTICIPATES IN THE INAUGURAL TUN ZAKI AZMI LECTURE SERIES ON LEADERSHIP AND STEWARDSHIP

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 June 2026 – The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), through the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), participated in the Inaugural Tun Zaki Azmi Lecture Series on Leadership and Stewardship, held at the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), Kuala Lumpur.

Organised by the ESG ADR Forum in collaboration with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) and the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), the Inaugural Tun Zaki Azmi Lecture Series brought together members of the judiciary, legal practitioners, academics, regulators, and industry leaders to discuss leadership, institutional responsibility, and the future of justice.

The programme commenced with Opening Remarks and the Official Launch by The Right Honourable Datuk Seri Utama Wan Ahmad Farid bin Wan Salleh, Chief Justice of Malaysia. In his address, he highlighted the importance of principled leadership, integrity, and stewardship in strengthening public confidence in the administration of justice and Malaysia’s legal institutions.

The highlight of the event was the Inaugural Lecture and Dialogue delivered by Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi, Executive Chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia. His lecture explored the evolving role of leadership in governance, sustainability, and institutional resilience, while emphasising the need for ethical decision-making and responsible stewardship in both the public and private sectors.

The programme concluded with a Closing Dialogue featuring Dato’ Mary Lim Thiam Suan, President of the AIAC Court of Arbitration and former Federal Court Judge. Drawing from her extensive judicial and arbitration experience, she shared valuable insights on the role of leadership in advancing justice, promoting effective dispute resolution, and strengthening legal institutions in an increasingly complex global environment.

The lecture series also provided an excellent platform for networking and knowledge exchange among distinguished members of the judiciary, legal professionals, academics, and students, reinforcing collaboration between legal institutions and academia.
