Gombak, 7 September 2022. International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) enters a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (CMCF) to collaborate in academic activities such as training, research, supervision and public education. The Rector of IIUM, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak and Mr Kenny Ong, the Chairman of CMCF seal the agreement.

AIKOL WELCOMES ASSISTANCE FROM ALUMNI TO STRENGTHEN THE SOCIO-LEGAL RESEARCH

Gombak, 8 September 2022. It is certainly heartening to receive visits from alumni and for them to show concern on the continuous improvement of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL). The visit by Assoc Prof Dr Ani Munirah Mohamad, an alumnus of AIKOL, sparks discussion on improving the socio-legal research among law schools in Malaysia.
Dr Ani Munirah offers her assistance, after obtaining necessary approval from her office, to share with colleagues and students at AIKOL her experience in conducting socio-legal research. Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib accepts the gracious offer, and the proposed itinerary will be put in place by Dr Wan Zulhafiz Wan Zahari, the Deputy Dean (Academic and Internationalisation).

OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND TO COLLABORATE WITH UNIVERSITIES IN HUNGARY

Gombak, 1 September 2022. Dr Csaba Gondola, a Visiting Scholar at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, shares with participants in a talk on study and research opportunities in Europe.
He imparts the features of Stipendum Hungaricum for studies in Hungary, bilateral state scholarship, ERASMUS+ and other scholarship prospects.
Dr Csaba also conveys possibilities of collaborating with universities in Hungary and Austria

AIKOL INTENSIFIES THE AGENDA OF HARMONISATION OF SHARIAH AND LAW

Gombak, 9 August 2022. Moving towards the 40th Anniversary, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) intensifies the harmonisation of Shariah and law in the curriculum in line with the core vision in the founding of the Kulliyyah.
In the Workshop on Curriculum Review 2022, Associate Professor Lihanna Borhan and Dr Zainurin Abd Rahman from the Office of Knowledge for Change and Advancement (KCA) challenge the participants to reconsider the whole structure of programmes under review so that the curriculum review is meaningful and not merely an exercise of box-ticking.

ISLAMISATION OF THE SELF IS NECESSARY IN CARRYING OUT HARMONISATION OF SHARIAH AND LAW

Members of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) consider the need of the Islamisation of the self in their pursuit of fulfilling the vision of AIKOL in working towards just laws and just legal systems through harmonisation of Shariah and law and champion by balanced graduates.
Professor Farid Sufian Shuaib in welcoming colleagues observes the necessity of all members to believe in the vision of AIKOL and to work together in capturing the vision.
In the AIKOL Ibadah Camp 2022, the Kulliyyah discusses the ethics of disagreement in Islam and the fundamental teachings of AhlusSunnah walJama’ah. Professor Dr Akmal Khuzairy Abd Rahman and Professor Dr Waleed Fekry Faris lead the discussion. Dato’ Hamidon Abdul Hamid provides the tafsir of Surah al-Mu’minun.
Professor Dr Shukran Abd Rahman shares his observations on the characteristics of altruistic behaviours which leads to the discussion by Associate Professor Dr Zainal Abidin Sanusi on volunteerism in IIUM.
Ustaz Hamid Jusoh provides the introspection of the self and of the management of the Kulliyyah by using the gold standard shown by Rasulullah (s.a.w) in his ibadah and his community leadership including being steadfast in congregational prayers.

TARGETED RESEARCH PROJECTS AND YOUTH AWARENESS-RAISING PROGRAMMES ARE NECESSARY IN POST-RATIFICATION OF TPNW

Gombak, 2 August 2022. Participants of the “Roundtable Discussion on TPNW and Malaysia: Humanitarian and Multidisciplinary Approaches to Post-Ratification” observe that targeted research projects that are aligned with the government’s priorities are necessary to advance the cause of prohibition of nuclear weapons not only by Malaysia but by all states. It is also important that awareness-raising programmes among the youth should continue in earnest.

BANNING NUCLEAR WEAPONS IS TO SAVE HUMANITY

Gombak, 1 August 2022. Nuclear weapons are threat to the existence of human and the world. This is one of the central points voice by speakers in the Conference Pertaining to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW): National Implementation and the Role of Youth.
Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib, the Dean of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), in his welcoming remarks, wishes that the current and the future generations, from all backgrounds, will work together to remove our existential threat through the elimination of nuclear weapons as mandated by the Treaty on the Prohibitions of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) which instrument of ratification Malaysia has signed on 30th September 2020. Ms Sahar Haroon, the Regional Legal Adviser of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in welcoming the participants, welcomes the collaboration between IIUM, the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) and ICRC in furtherance to the objective of the treaty.
