Kuala Lumpur, 15 October 2024. The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) mooting team proudly represents Malaysia at the prestigious 19th LAWASIA International Moot Competition (International Rounds) 2024, reaching the Quarter Finals and placing 5th overall out of 16 teams across Asia. Held at the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), the competition featured the top national teams from their respective countries, showcasing the highest level of legal advocacy in the region.

AIKOL GAINS INSIGHT IN THE WORKING OF THE COURT MARTIAL

Port Dickson, 29th November 2024 – The Legal Practice Department of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) organised a visit to the Court Martial at the Court Martial Complex, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. The visit begins with a presentation on the military justice system and, after that, observation of a court martial proceeding. This rare opportunity allows delegates to appreciate the unique set of court martial rules and protocols and how they intersect with civil court rules. AIKOL hopes to continue organising similar visits, to provide staff with a deeper understanding of various justice systems and facets of law enforcement.

In a remarkable showcase of advocacy skills, the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) team has emerged as the second runner-up at the 19th LAWASIA International Moot Competition (National Rounds) 2024, hosted at the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) in Kuala Lumpur. This prestigious competition brought together 16 teams from 10 prominent law schools across Malaysia. Both IIUM teams demonstrated exceptional legal acumen and strategic prowess, with one team ultimately achieving the distinguished 2nd runner-up spot after advancing through a highly competitive semi-final stage.
