Gombak, 6 June 2024. International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), led by Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB).
The MOU aims to foster strategic partnerships in research, education, and talent development, aligning with the goals of both organizations. This collaboration will enable the exchange of expertise, resources, and knowledge, driving innovation, learning and research exchange in the energy sector.
The initial focus of the MoU is the policy and law on green and renewable energy. This is one of the areas of focus by SEB and by the IIUM Climate Change Policy and Law Centre (IIUM CCPLC) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr Maizatun Mustafa.
Prof. Ahmad Faris Ismail – the Deputy Rector (Academic and Internationalisation), representing the Rector of IIUM, accompanied by Prof. Farid Sufian Shuaib – the Dean, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) receive the delegation of SEB led by the Group Chief Executive officer (GCEO) Datuk Sharbini Bin Suhaili
Other members of the SEB delegation include: George Chapman- Senior Vice President George Chapman (Senior Vice President – Legal & Compliance) Mak Anak Met (Senior Vice President – Human Resources), Hafiza Binti Abdul Jalil , Sharifah Zaaimah Binti Wan Ismail Edruce, Nur Khaleeda Binti Zaidi , Dayang Nur Afiqah Binti Awang Jefri and Nuraina Najihah Bt Affendi.
In attendance with the IIUM team are Assoc. Prof. Maizatun Mustafa, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wan Mohd Zulhafiz Wan Zahari from the IIUM Climate Change Policy and Law Centre, Bro. Mir Azrul Shaharudin and Dr. Sodiq Omoola.
The MOU signing marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between IIUM and SEB, paving the way for future joint initiatives.
