Gombak, 22 October 2022. Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and IIUM Press jointly organise the International Conference on Peace and Conflict Resolution (ICCPR) 2022. The theme of the conference is “International Peace and Security the Achievement of the United Nations and the Way Forward”.
Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib, the Dean of AIKOL, in delivering the opening remarks welcomes all invited guests, keynote speakers and participants to the inaugural conference International Conference on Peace and Conflict Resolution (ICCPR) 2022. He invites delegates to consider each own contribution to the peace and security of the world considering the armed conflicts taking place all over the world.
He thanks the IIUM Press led by its Director, Assoc Prof Dr Roosfa Hashim for agreeing to jointly organise the conference. He also thanks the organising committee led by Prof Dr Mohammad Naqib Eishan Jan for their dedication and tireless efforts to the fruition of the conference.
Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Bin Abdul Razak, the Rector of International Islamic University Malaysia in welcoming and opening the conference wishes to remind delegates something that is often forgotten that Islam is the religion of peace. Thus, International Islamic University Malaysia as an Islamic university contributes for peaceful conflict resolution through education including by providing education opportunities to students from war thorn countries as was provided to the Bosnian students in the 1980’s. The university intends to fulfil its responsibility to provide mercy to the world.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Rahmat Mohamad, the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM), Dato’ Dr. Shazelina Zainul Abidin, the Director General of the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Prof. Dr. Gary Lilienthal from Tashkent State University of Law, Prof. Dr. Emilia Justyna Powell from University of Notre Dame, Ms. Kaylee Koehlinger from the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) deliver the keynote addresses covering important aspects of peaceful conflict resolution.
