AIKOL STRENGTHENS ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE THROUGH INTENSIVE OBE FRAMEWORK CLINIC

GOMBAK, 29 January 2026 — The Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), successfully organised the Workshop on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Framework: Clinic Meeting.

The mandatory workshop brought together AIKOL academic staff in a focused and interactive clinic aimed at strengthening understanding and implementation of the IIUM Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Framework. The initiative reflects AIKOL’s proactive efforts to ensure that teaching, assessment, and curriculum design align with institutional standards and evolving expectations in higher education.

Serving as a strategic capacity-building platform, the OBE Clinic provided structured guidance on key components of the OBE framework, including performance indicators, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), assessment strategies, rubric development, and Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO) alignment. Through expert-led sessions and practical discussions, participants gained deeper insights into strengthening curriculum coherence and enhancing evidence-based academic practices across Centres of Study.

The workshop was officiated by Prof. Dr. Ida Madieha Abdul Ghani Azmi, Dean of AIKOL, who emphasised the importance of a systematic and holistic approach to outcome-based education in nurturing competent, ethical, and socially responsible legal graduates.

The programme featured sessions facilitated by distinguished academic leaders from IIUM. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afiza Mohamad Ali, Deputy Director of the Kulliyyah of Education Centre for Academic Advancement (KCA), shared insights on defining performance indicators and implementing CQI processes. Prof. Dr. Ainol Madziah Zubairi, Director of the Institute of Mechatronics Engineering and Technology (iMet), elaborated on the development of generic rubrics and effective assessment strategies, while Asst. Prof. Dr. Arbaiah Abdul Razak, Deputy Director of the Centre for Professional Development (CPD), guided participants on PLO alignment verification, professional standards, and the identification of culminating courses.

The clinic concluded with meaningful discussions among participants, highlighting the importance of continuous improvement in curriculum design and teaching practices. The programme reaffirmed AIKOL’s dedication to integrating Tawhidic Epistemology and the pursuit of Ummatic Excellence in advancing outcome-based legal education.

Through initiatives such as the OBE Framework Clinic, AIKOL continues to empower its academic community and strengthen its role as a leading institution in delivering high-quality, relevant, and values-driven legal education.
