Gombak, 5th November 2025 – The Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), successfully hosted a comprehensive Study Visit and Law Forum led by delegates from Universitas Lancang Kuning (UNILAK), Indonesia. The half-day programme, held at the Nawawi Conference Hall, Level 4 AIKOL, served as a vibrant platform for academic exchange and fostered stronger bilateral ties between the two institutions.
Organized by the Harun M. Hashim Law Centre, the event commenced welcoming remarks delivered by the Representative of the IIUM Rector and the Rector of UNILAK, setting a collaborative tone for the day.
The highlight of the event was the Law Forum, which centred on the specific topic: “The Legal Review: Administration of Islamic Law and Its Challenges.” This session featured insights from distinguished speakers: Assoc. Prof. Datuk Dr. Shamrahayu Binti Ab Aziz from AIKOL and the Dean of UNILAK, Dr. Miftahul Haq, S.H., M.Kn. Their discourse provided comparative legal perspectives, allowing participants from both Malaysia and Indonesia to share insights into the respective legal systems and highlight challenges in the application and administration of Islamic Law.
Following the formal talk, the programme featured an engaging segment on Community Service Sharing by students from both UNILAK and IIUM. This session fostered valuable peer-to-peer exchange, showcasing how legal education translates into practical community engagement and service. The event concluded with a Photography Session before lunch.
The successful organization of the Law Forum by the Harun M. Hashim Law Centre is a testament to AIKOL’s dedication to engaging with regional partners to enrich its academic offerings and contribute to the advancement of legal scholarship in the ASEAN region. The event concluded with a clear commitment from both AIKOL and UNILAK to explore future avenues for academic collaboration, including joint seminars, publications, and student mobility programmes, further strengthening the internationalization efforts of both universities.
