
Gombak, 6 August 2025 – The Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), in collaboration with relevant experts and departments, successfully hosted the Roadshow on Teaching and Learning Guide for Persons with Disabilities at the Student Lounge, Level 2, IIUM Library.
The half-day event aimed to enhance awareness, understanding, and pedagogical strategies to better support students with disabilities and neurodivergent conditions. The programme brought together academicians, psychologists, and students for insightful discussions on inclusive education.

The event began with Prof. Dr. Ruzita Mohd Amin, Head of the Disability Services Unit (DSU), delivered two key presentations: Understanding Disability and the Social Model and Overall Support for Students with Disabilities: The Role of DSU. She highlighted the importance of moving beyond medical models of disability and adopting more inclusive, socially informed approaches.
Addressing the challenges faced by neurodivergent students, Sr. Khairiah Abd. Razak, Clinical Psychologist at CCSC IIUM, gave a comprehensive overview of conditions such as ASD, ADHD, and Dyslexia, and how these impact learning experiences.
Set against the tranquil backdrop of Awana Kijal’s pristine coastline, the event provided the perfect opportunity for participants to unwind, recharge, and bond beyond the confines of their usual work environment.

The programme concluded with a Case Study Analysis and an engaging Sharing Session, featuring reflections from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nizam Barom (KENMS), Br. Nur Arif Jasmin (PhD Student, AHAS KIRKHS), and Muhammad Hadi Hussaini Talib (Master Student, KICT), who shared their personal and academic journeys.
The roadshow provided a platform for constructive dialogue and knowledge sharing, reinforcing IIUM’s commitment to inclusive education. AIKOL lecturers and attendees expressed appreciation for the valuable insights, and the initiative is expected to inform future teaching strategies and institutional policies for students with disabilities.
