COMPULSORY SEMINAR ENHANCES FIRST-YEAR LAW STUDENTS’ UNDERSTANDING OF ISLAMIC FEDERAL ADMINISTRATION

Gombak, 5 December 2025 – The Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) successfully conducted a compulsory seminar titled “Administration of Islam in Malaysia: The Main Islamic Federal Entity” today. The programme was specifically organized for all first-year, first-semester students, including those pursuing the LLB Shariah degree.

The seminar, organized by lecturers of the Islamic Legal System (SHA 1350) course, aimed to significantly enhance students’ understanding of the intricate framework of Islamic institutions in Malaysia, with a particular focus on the role of the Majlis Kebangsaan Hal Ehwal Islam Malaysia (MKI) or National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs, Malaysia.

The session was delivered in a hybrid mode, allowing for comprehensive participation across the student body. Approximately 70 students attended physically in the Conference Room on Level 4 of AIKOL, while an additional 130 students joined online via Microsoft Teams, totalling around 200 participants.

The distinguished panel of organizers and speakers included Assoc. Prof. Datuk Dr. Shamrahayu A. Aziz as the speaker, Asst. Prof. Dr. Tajul Aris Ahmad Bustami as the moderator, and Dr. Ramizah Wan Muhammad. These lecturers from AIKOL’s Department of Islamic Law collectively organized the event to provide essential foundational knowledge required for their course.

The event served as a crucial introductory session for the new batch of law students, integrating academic learning with the practical realities of Islamic administration in the Malaysian context.
