IIUM AND MINISTRY OF LAW OF INDONESIA FORGE COLLABORATION THROUGH LETTER OF INTENT

Kuala Lumpur, 21 August 2025 – The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia for a high-level visit and the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) to strengthen collaboration in legal education, research, and professional development.

Held at the Office of the Rector, Level 4, Muhammad Abdul Rauf Building, IIUM Gombak Campus, the visit featured a general discussion followed by the formal signing of the LOI. This agreement reflects the shared vision of both parties to enhance academic and institutional ties, promote scholarly exchange, and foster capacity building in the field of law. It also sets the stage for future agreements and initiatives, including joint academic programmes, legal capacity-building activities, and enhanced mobility for students and researchers.

The LOI was signed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Aslam Bin Mohamed Haneef, Deputy Rector (Research, Innovation and Development), representing IIUM, and Dr. Widodo, S.H., M.H., Director General of Legal Administrative Affairs, representing the Ministry of Law of Indonesia. The ceremony was witnessed by Prof. Dr. Ida Madieha Bt. Abdul Ghani Azmi, Dean of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), and Andi Eva Nurliani, S.H., M.H., Legal Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

The Indonesian delegation included senior officials such as Agvirta Armilia Sativa, Bambang Setyabudi, Backy Krisnayuda, Mochammad Doohan, Anissa, Zul Ahadi, Arisy Nabawi, M. Emil Adrianto, and Adani Shabrina.
Representatives from IIUM included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sonny Zulhuda, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Majdah Zawawi, and En. Anas Shamsuddin.

This collaboration underscores IIUM’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and contributing to the advancement of legal education and practice in the region.
