About Medical Education and Academic Quality Department (MEQD)

The Medical Education and Academic Quality Department (MEQD) was set up in early 2009. It was previously called the Education Planning, Implementation & Evaluation Unit. It has representatives from majority of the departments within the Kulliyyah of Medicine.

MEQD is to be the generator of continuous planning, monitoring and improving the medical education system within the Kulliyyah of Medicine, and also the training of the academia whenever new changes in medical education are to be implemented.

As with technology, medical education too is fast evolving. Among the recent trends include the shift from lecturer-centered to student-centered teaching, mass lectures to small group learning, system-based teaching to problem-based learning, methods of assessment of affective domain (professionalism), portfolio assessment and ‘One Best Answer MCQ’.

Appreciation is extended to the following individuals who have served as Heads of Unit. Their leadership and contributions have played a significant role in shaping the unit’s progress and development over the years:
