The Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM celebrated a significant milestone with the successful execution of its student outbound mobility program, “From Break to Strength: A Post-Fracture Awareness & Rehabilitation Journey”, held at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

This program, enabling Year 4 Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Elective Nursing students to broaden their horizons through international exposure and cross-cultural learning.

Key Highlights:

  • Education and Training: The event featured insightful lectures, including one titled “Advancing Orthopaedic Nursing in Community Care for Older Adults: Opportunities and Challenges in the Malaysian Context.”
  • Community Engagement: Hands-on activities in rehabilitation, such as wound care, physical therapy support, and pain management, showcased the application of clinical knowledge in diverse settings.
  • Global Collaboration: This outbound mobility program not only addressed healthcare gaps in Indonesia but also encouraged knowledge exchange, advancing Sustainable Development Goals such as SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

A Collaborative Effort
Led by a dedicated committee of students, supported by faculty advisors, the initiative engaged 100 participants, including healthcare professionals and community members. “This program exemplifies the potential of outbound mobility in enhancing global healthcare practices while enriching student experiences,” noted Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamil Che Hasan, Dean of the Kulliyyah of Nursing,IIUM.

An Ethical and Holistic Approach
Grounded in the principles of Maqasid Shariah, the program reinforced the preservation of life and intellect by equipping participants with the tools needed for effective decision-making and improved patient care.

By combining education, international collaboration, and cultural exchange, “From Break to Strength” not only enhanced clinical competencies but also showcased the transformative power of student mobility programs in bridging healthcare gaps globally. The success of this initiative marks a new chapter in Kulliyyah of Nursing’s commitment to fostering impactful global partnerships.
