TOWARDS CLOSER COOPERATION BETWEEN INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC COLLEGE AND AIKOL

Gombak, 8 November 2023. AIKOL welcomes Shaik Faridhudheen Anverdeen, the Chief Executive Officer who leads the delegation from the International Islamic College (IIC). Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib, the Dean of AIKOL in welcoming the delegation agrees for both parties to explore collaboration in improving the delivery of teaching and learning to students.

As institutes of higher learning, both parties affirm their commitment to work together for the betterment of the students.

ISLAMIC LAW POSITION IN THE MALAYSIAN LEGAL SYSTEM IS BIRTHED AND SUSTAINED BY THE INDIGENOUS LEGAL SYSTEM AND THE FEDERAL CONSTITUTION

Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib explains to colleagues and students at the Faculty of Law, University of Hang Tuah, Surabaya, Indonesia that the position of Islamic law in Malaysia could be best understood by appreciating the legal history and the formation of the Federation of Malaya and Malaysia based on the Federal Constitution.

Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib in delivering a Guest Lecture entitled “Islamic Law in Malaysia” at the Faculty of Law, University of Hang Tuah, Surabaya, Indonesia explains that as a federation, the Federal Constitution provides the competency to enact on Islamic law to States, rather than the Federation.

PETRONAS SHARES WITH AIKOL ITS INTERNATIONAL OUTLOOK IN OPERATIONALISING PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

Gombak, 1 November 2023. In view of the continuous excellence tradition and the pursuit of AIKOL strategic research plan, the Communications, Technology and Artificial Intelligence Governance Research Unit, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), IIUM organised a talk entitled “Global Trends and Issues Operationalising Personal Data Protection: A Petronas Perspective” on 1 November 2023, located in Al-Nawawi Conference Room, AIKOL Building, Gombak. The event is another collaboration between AIKOL, IIUM and Petronas, the Malaysia’s leading oil and gas multinational company. The objective of the event is to learn from PETRONAS’ experience how to comply the personal data protection (PDP) law in the context of their business. It is also to showcase how an international organisation like Petronas deals with the international legal and regulatory frameworks on PDP.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND CLIMATE CHANGE MEDIATION IS THE WAY FORWARD IN PROTECTING THE INTERESTS OF THE COMMUNITY

Gombak, 11th May 2023. Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), the IIUM Climate Change Policy and Law Centre (CCPL Centre) and Harun M. Hashim Law Centre with the support of the Young Southeast Asian Leadership Initiative (YSEALI) Professional Fellows Programme (a program of the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and supported in its implementation by the American Council for International Education) organise the International Symposium on Environmental and Climate Change Mediation in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the IIUM and AIKOL.

THE CONSORTIUM CONSIDERS SCIENTIFIC, ECONOMICS, MANAGEMENT AND ETHICAL ASPECTS OF ADDRESSING CLIMATE CHANGE IN DEVELOPING POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES ON CLIMATE CHANGE POLICY AND LAW

The team of the Climate Change Policy and Law Centre (CCPLC) under the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) attends a project meeting at the Marwadi University, Rajkot, India. The project meeting and study visit are funded under the Erasmus+ towards the development of the postgraduate curricula on the climate change policy and law. The coordinator of the Centre is Assoc Prof Dr Maizatun Mustafa.
