GOMBAK, 9 January 2026 – Continuing its commitment to fostering impactful legal discourse, the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) successfully organised the GWC-iWAQF Talk at Lecture Theatre A, IIUM Gombak Campus. The session, entitled “The Operation of the National Land Code (Act 828) in the Development of Waqf Land in Malaysia: Issues and Solutions,” focused on key legal and governance challenges affecting the development of waqf land in Malaysia.
The talk featured Mr. Jaiya b Abu, Director of the Land Legal Management Division at the Department of the Director General of Lands and Mines (JKPTG), as the lead panellist. The session was moderated by Prof. To Puan Dr. Nor Asiah Mohamad, who guided a substantive discussion on the interaction between the National Land Code and waqf land administration. The dialogue highlighted practical legal considerations and strategic solutions aimed at strengthening land governance, improving administrative efficiency, and enhancing public confidence in waqf institutions.
The programme provided valuable insights for academics, practitioners, and students, contributing to a deeper understanding of the legal mechanisms governing waqf land development in Malaysia.
