Message from the Dean
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
Since its establishment in 2006, the Kulliyyah of Dentistry, International Islamic University Malaysia, has grown from a young dental school into a comprehensive centre for dental education, postgraduate and specialist training, research, innovation and clinical care.
Today, we are supported by more than 80 academic and clinical experts across the various disciplines of dentistry. Our postgraduate and specialist training has expanded significantly, complementing our undergraduate programme and strengthening our role in developing the next generation of dental professionals, specialists, academics and researchers.
Our journey is firmly anchored in the vision and mission of IIUM and its Tawhidic approach to knowledge. We believe that education is not merely about acquiring knowledge or technical competence. Knowledge is an amanah, and its pursuit should ultimately bring benefit to humanity and draw us closer to our responsibility as servants and vicegerents of Allah SWT.
For us, this means integrating knowledge, faith, ethics and professional excellence. We aspire to produce dental professionals who are clinically competent and intellectually capable, but equally compassionate, trustworthy and conscious of their responsibilities towards their patients, profession, community and the Ummah.
At the same time, dentistry is changing rapidly, and we must continue to move forward. Digital dentistry is one of the key areas shaping the future of our Kulliyyah. Digital scanning and designing, CAD/CAM, 3D printing, advanced clinical technologies and artificial intelligence are increasingly integrated into our education, research and patient care.
However, our aspiration is not simply to become a Kulliyyah with the latest technology. Technology must serve people, and knowledge must serve a greater purpose. This is where our Tawhidic worldview should distinguish us embracing innovation while ensuring that our decisions remain guided by ethics, ihsan, compassion and responsibility to society.
As we move towards our third decade, our priorities are clear to strengthen postgraduate and specialist education, advance impactful research and innovation, lead in digital dentistry, expand meaningful international collaboration, and provide high-quality oral healthcare that benefits the community.
Our aspiration remains for the Kulliyyah of Dentistry to be acknowledged as a Mecca for lifelong dental learning, research and education a place where people come not only to study dentistry, but also to learn, discover, innovate, serve and lead.
Almost two decades have passed since 2006. We are proud of how far we have come, but we are even more excited about where we are going, InshaAllah.
May Allah SWT grant us wisdom, sincerity and barakah in this journey, and enable the knowledge entrusted to us to become a source of benefit to humanity.

Warmest welcome to Kulliyah of Dentistry, IIUM. Inspired by the worldview of tawhid and Islamic philosophy of the unity of knowledge as well as its concept of holistic education, the Kulliyah aims at becoming a leading international centre of excellence which seeks to restore the dynamic and progressive role of the ummah in all branches of knowledge for the betterment of human life and civilisation. With student intake from more than 95 different countries around the globe, the core aspiration that makes Kulliyah of Dentistry different from other dental schools is our commitment to strike a balance between technical excellence in dental education, scientific judgement, and developing emotional intelligence virtue among dental graduates.
To this end, we are committed to providing a transdisciplinary, education that fosters adaptability, and curiosity, and emphasizing the integral concept of Ihsan (the pursuit of excellence) in order to produce all-rounder and holistic dental graduates and future leaders of the country.
For over 16 years, our students benefited from the breadth and depth of experiences and resources in contributing to the oral health and well-being of the communities on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is in line with the mission of the Kulliyah which is to nurture the culture of excellence in academia, administration and treatment services, by utilizing contemporary techniques and training in order to produce generations of dental professionals with leadership qualities imbued in Islamic value. On top of that, at Kulliyah of Dentistry, we are constantly evolving to make remarkable advances by integrating applied and fundamental sciences for efficient scientific research as such collaboration is crucial for sustaining oral health and wellness within the society.
The Kulliyah takes great pride in its dedicated academic, administrative, and technical staff, all of whom work together towards the common goal of realising Kulliyah’s vision and mission and providing students with truly memorable and transformative learning experiences. The vibrant culture of excellence and core values have shaped our attitude and excellent performance in teaching and learning, research activities, and community services.
