The Elective Patient Safety in ICU Webinar titled “Optimising Patient Safety Through Simulation on Critical Care Units” was successfully held on 25th January 2025, attracting 116 participants. Organised by Year 4 Titanz Elective ICU in collaboration with the Department of Critical Care Nursing, Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM, the webinar provided valuable insights into the role of simulation in critical care settings.
The event featured two distinguished speakers: Dr. Noor Azizah Mohd Ali and Sr. Mariyam Sobaha Mohamed Sodhiq. Dr. Noor Azizah’s session delved into the significance of simulation in critical care units, presenting examples and research findings, particularly from Australia. She emphasised how simulation-based training enhances patient safety and improves healthcare professionals’ response to high-risk situations.
Sr. Mariyam Sobaha Mohamed Sodhiq shared her experiences from her workplace in Maldives, offering practical insights into the challenges and benefits of simulation training in critical care settings. Her session highlighted real-world applications of simulation techniques, providing attendees with a broader perspective on best practices.
The interactive webinar fostered engaging discussions, allowing participants to deepen their understanding of simulation as a vital tool for improving patient safety. The successful event demonstrated the commitment of Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM, in promoting quality education and innovation in nursing practice.
