THE SECOND SERIES OF PROGRAM MURID SIHAT & SELAMAT

In a dedicated effort to foster a culture of wellbeing among young learners, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pandan successfully hosted the highly anticipated second instalment of the ā€˜Program Murid Sihat & Selamat’ on 9 September 2026. Organised by the Department of Professional Nursing Studies, Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM, the programme was led by Dr Muzaitul Akma Mustapa Kamal Basha. The initiative was also supported by a dedicated team of clinical instructors from the Clinical Skills Centre (CSC), alongside third-year nursing students from the Kulliyyah of Nursing, IIUM.

The event serves as a robust continuation of Series 1, which was previously inaugurated on 30 September 2025. This sustained initiative reflects an ongoing, long-term commitment by educators and health advocates to enhance schoolchildren’s knowledge, awareness, and daily practices concerning their personal health and safety.

Students engaging in sustained health education activities

A defining feature of Series 2 was the strategic collaboration with the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Nursing undergraduates from the faculty stepped forward as the official agents and facilitators for this year’s programme, bringing a fresh, energetic approach to health education.

Tasked with bridging the gap between clinical knowledge and foundational primary education, the IIUM contingent designed and delivered a dynamic array of health-centric activities.

Departing from traditional classroom lectures, the university students introduced highly interactive and age-appropriate modules tailored specifically to the SK Pandan demographic. Pupils were actively engaged through a variety of vibrant group activities and fun games that promoted both physical movement and cognitive learning.

Among the standout sessions were immersive role-playing exercises, which allowed the children to navigate simulated health and safety scenarios safely. Furthermore, a health-themed scavenger hunt proved to be a resounding success, encouraging teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving whilst reinforcing crucial health protocols.

The resounding success of the event was a testament to the strong collaborative spirit between the university and the primary school. During his closing remarks, the Headmaster of SK Pandan, Encik Mohd Razuki bin Daud, expressed his immense joy regarding IIUM's return to the school.

"We are incredibly happy to welcome the IIUM team back, especially with even more engaging activities and a larger crowd this time. We warmly welcome this initiative and sincerely hope that SK Pandan will always remain in the organiser's plans for any future Health Education events."
