On the 27th of January, an event unfolded virtually on the Zoom platform, the Breast Cancer Awareness Programme held hybrid, organized by the NURA 4412 Continuous Nursing Education Section 1 of the Kulliyyah of Nursing at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Kuantan Campus. This programme collaboratively organized with the National Cancer Council (MAKNA), Ikram Akademia, and Persatuan Suri Rumah Rahmah that aimed to explained to the society about breast cancer and fortify individuals with knowledge on prevention, early detection, and self-examination practices.
Under the good guidance of the organizing committee, led by Programme Manager Br. Mohd Iqbal bin Roslan and Secretaries, Sr. Ainun Hafizhah binti Zulkarnain and Sr. Tengku Nur Aisyah Ihsan binti Tg Yunus the event seamlessly unfolded. Sr. Tengku Nur Aisyah Ihsan binti Tg Yunus also served as the emcee for the program. The committee’s dedication and coordination, represent of Programme Coordinator Br. Ameer Aiman bin Muhammad Abir, and Public Relations, Sr. Nur Athirah binti Ibrahim, were the crucial in ensuring the program’s success. Smooth technical preparations during the program provided by Br. Mohamad Asyraf bin Mohd Zin, Sr. Nurul Syazwani binti Zaharudin, and Sr. Nik Nursyuhada binti Nik Ali. Publication and promotion were adeptly handled by Sr. El Liyana binti Mt Ngainon and Sr. Nurin Afrina binti Guntoro, ensuring maximum outreach and engagement. Special tasks were carried out by created pre and post evaluation and analysed after the programmed done by Che Sr. Siti Nur Ajeerah binti Che Awang, Sr. Nurintan Mastura binti Mohamed Ismail, and Sr. Damia binti Alias.
The programme started with distribution of registration form via a link and scanned code. Then preparation and technician committee distributed pre-evaluation form using same method as registration. The program then started with a heartening recitation of Asmaul Husna, Negaraku, and IIUM song followed by a solemn Doa recitation by Br. Ameer Aiman. Asst. Prof. Dr. Siti Noorkhairina binti Sowtali which is the course advisor made the program better with a short inspiring speech during the opening ceremony, emphasizing the significance of awareness and early detection. Then, emcee pass the insightful talks to speaker from MAKNA, Br. Ahmad Nu’man bin Abdul Rahman that enlighten the prevention, early detection and breast self-examination. Practical demonstrations on breast self-examination further empowered participants with tangible skills. Heartfelt sharing sessions continued by Dr. Nurul’Ain Ahayalimudin, a breast cancer survivor, provided invaluable perspectives and encouragement. She also shared her past experiences and the challenges she faced when diagnosed with cancer during her studies abroad.
Interactive sessions, including Q&A segments and quizzes, fostered engagement and learning. The event end with a post-evaluation and a closing ceremony, followed by a photography session to to capture the memorable moments. As a gesture of appreciation, Asst. Prof. Dr. Siti Noorkhairina binti Sowtali treated the committee to sumptuous refreshments and extended tokens of gratitude to three top difference participants score between pre and post evaluation and to notable speakers, Dr. Nurul’Ain Binti Ahayalimudin and Br Ahmad Nu’man Bin Abdul Rahman, for their invaluable contributions.
In essence, the Breast Cancer Awareness Program the event was seen as a source of inspiration or guidance for others in term of education on all who participated, reaffirming the commitment to raising awareness and fostering a community of support in the fight against breast cancer.
