Girona, Spain, 1 June 2022. The team of the Climate Change Policy and Law Centre (CCPLC) under the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws attended a capacity building series at the University of Girona, Spain. The study visit is funded under the Erasmus+ towards the establishment of the CCPLC. The coordinator of the Centre is Assoc Prof Dr Maizatun Mustafa.

The Faculty of Science in the University of Girona shares the student’s mentoring system that the faculty has implemented for several years after a less than successful manual system. Members of CCPLC shares the experience of implementing a manual hard copy folder of student’s mentoring system. Both parties agree that all-inclusive – in term of students and study period – mentoring requires the support of digital system and commitment from faculty members. Such a system should include student’s reflection.

The team from the Science and Technological Park under University of Girona explains the services of the park including providing entrepreneurship environment and internationalisation of the technology. The park shares some of the projects relating to the climate change including water purification and environmental impact assessments.

The study visit is funded under the Erasmus+ towards the development of the postgraduate curriculum on the climate change.

In the first session, Prof Dr Pepus Daunis i Estadella, the Vice-Rector (Quality and Transparency) of the University of Girona shares the importance of the institutional quality culture. During the discussion, the participants agree that it is important to ensure that views of all stakeholders are taken into account in establishing and maintaining quality. This will involve the views of the students, the industry and the academic.

Gombak, 22 May 2022. Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib, the Dean of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) witnesses the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between iWaqf (National Waqf Action Council) and an education provider to provide competency building programmes on waqf.

Bangi, 6 April 2022. The Climate Change Policy and Law Centre under Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (CCPLC) visited the Institute of Climate Change (IPI) under the National University of Malaysia at Bangi. Both entities agree to collaborate towards working to adapt and to mitigate the impact of climate change.

Shah Alam, 13 April 2022. YAA Dato’ Mohammad Adib bin Husain, the Chief Syarie Judge of the State of Selangor welcomes the proposition of collaboration with Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) in mutually benefitting endeavours for both institutions. The Department is looking at collaboration in enhancing competency in the area of mediation and in reporting of judgments.

YAA Dato’ Mohammad Adib bin Husain, as an alumnus of AIKOL welcomes meeting again the lecturers and colleagues from the Kulliyyah.

Gombak, 23 May 2022. Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib, the Dean of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) in his welcoming remarks at the 2022 Webinar on Climate Change asserts that climate change is real as experienced by everyone in the rising of the world temperature, increasing rainfall and rising of frequency and extremity of floods. Thus, it is necessary for all citizens of the world to take appropriate actions to adapt and to mitigate the changes and the impacts.

Putrajaya, 18 May 2022. CyberSecurity Malaysia appoints Assoc Prof Dr Sonny Zulhuda as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the development of certification scheme in the Personal Data Protection.

The development of such certification is important in the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

Ipoh, 11 May 2022. YAA Tuan Hj Ab Rahman Thobroni bin Mohd Mansor, the Chief Syarie Judge of the State of Perak agrees to collaborate with Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) in continuing education for members of the Department of Shariah Judiciary of Perak. The Department is very much interested in enhancing competency in the area of mediation. Additionally, AIKOL will bring forward suggestions to enhance other core functions of the department.

Ipoh, 11 May 2022. Representative of alumni of AIKOL in Perak shares the report that the alumni in Perak are thriving in their legal practice in spite of the challenges. They extend their appreciation for the visit by the delegation from the Kulliyyah. The host for the meeting, Bro Khairul Anuar Musa of Messr Khairul & Syuhada welcomes the Kulliyyah delegation and hosts the meeting
