MAKHACHKALA, September 21 – RIA “Dagestan”. As part of the memorandum of cooperation in the field of higher education and science signed by the Dagestan State Technical University with the International Islamic University of Malaysia, the university was visited by a delegation of 25 Malaysian architecture students led by academic advisors Ihsan Muhammad and Azmir Muhammad. The news agency was informed about this by the press service of DSTU.

“The university has created all the necessary conditions for their comfortable living and study. We are interested in the number of foreign students growing; besides, the students have an excellent opportunity to continue their studies in master’s and postgraduate studies. This practice already exists, and students are quite successfully engaged in scientific activities and find employment. At the same time, DSTU is a recognized leader in training personnel in the field of architecture and architectural design, and graduates of the faculty are sought-after specialists. In this regard, taking into account the rich scientific and practical experience of our universities, the planned cooperation will undoubtedly be useful and fruitful for both parties,” Balamirzoev said.

In turn, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovation Activities of DSTU Hamid Irzaev introduced the delegation from Malaysia to the scientific research and development of scientists from the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, who make a great contribution to the development of a comprehensive assessment of seismic risk, new building materials based on local raw materials, new types of heat-resistant concrete , in the creation of rigid three-layer structures for transporting heterogeneous media, in the restoration of historical objects of Dagestan on the basis of recreating binding mixtures and concretes identical to ancient materials for restoration work.

The scientific leader of the delegation, Azmir Muhammad, presented the International Islamic University of Malaysia, which is a major center of education and science in the country and enjoys high prestige in the Islamic world. The university celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

The guest spoke about the purposes of the visit to Dagestan – collecting and preserving accurate information about the most ancient Islamic historical buildings, to which they include the Juma Mosque in the city of Derbent. As part of the expedition, a group of Malaysian students and architectural scientists will take measurements of the historical mosque building, video and photograph the object, and conduct historical research. Based on the results of this work, the group plans to prepare a report with design documentation and create a 3D model of the mosque.

Researchers at the Islamic University have already carried out similar work through inter-university cooperation with countries such as Iran, Egypt, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Turkey and Syria.

At the end of the round table, Malaysians were invited to familiarize themselves with the infrastructure of DSTU and the educational and scientific laboratories of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering. They visited the scientific and educational center “Modern Building Materials and Structures”, examined modern testing equipment in the laboratories of the Department of Building Structures and Hydraulic Structures, and assessed paintings, graphics, and models of architectural solutions for various objects created by the hands of DSTU architecture students in the department’s exhibition hall. In an informal atmosphere, the guests talked with students and teachers of the department.
