Doctor of Philosophy in Built Environment (P_BEN)

INTRODUCTION

Doctor of Philosophy in Built Environment programme integrates Islamic values and principles into its curriculum including the courses taught and research areas. The intention of incorporating Islamic values into the programme is to produce graduates who are not only knowledgeable in their field but also nurturing a person as the Khalifah first, a professional second that responsible for the environment and dimensions of the spaces they design. The programme aims to produce graduates with adequate knowledge and skills in relevant built environment fields such as Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Urban and Regional Planning and Applied Arts and Design. Other than that, the programme offers opportunities for research, specialisation, and hands-on experience, the incorporation of Islamic built environment, the application of Islamic principles of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Hence, with these focuses, the Doctor of Philosophy in Built Environment distinguishes itself apart from other institutions.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

1) Graduates will demonstrate advanced research skills, critically evaluating and synthesising complex information to develop solutions and knowledge in the built environment.
2) Graduates will excel in scholarly research, publication and disseminate new knowledge in the built environment discipline.
3) Graduates will actively communicate complex ideas and research findings using digital skills, and demonstrate excel collaborative and managerial skills by working with professionals across disciplines in addressing built environment issues.
4) Graduates will contribute significantly to sustainable built environment, and community development through impactful research with the highest Islamic principles, ethics, leadership, and professionalism for the betterment of Ummah.
